A freak show is an ignorant part of human’s part money making history. However, it is alive and well and continues across the US, but a certain NY based show is one puppy short of this month’s critter quota.
Seems that a very loving unemployed woman saw this adorable 5 legged puppy on the auction block. She knew that she wanted it, but there was another bidder a Coney Island freak show operator .
Allyson Siegel, 45, of Charlotte, N.C., was stunned to learn that little Precious, a Chihuahua-terrier mix, was bound for a Brooklyn freak show, so she called the dog’s owner, Calvin Owensby, and offered him more money and acquired the puppy and renamed the dog Lilly after surgery to remove the extra appendage.
“She is beautiful, she’s not a freak, she’s a normal little puppy dog and she should be just like all the others,” Siegel said.
She was born with a fifth leg protruding from her stomach, between her hind legs. The extra leg has six toes. “It just broke my heart,” she added. “I needed to see if there was something I could do…so this puppy could have a good life”
Thank you Allyson. May we all treat all living things with the compassion and love you have shown.
