“Another fortunate endangered turtle goes home”

More good news for endangered turtles

Sandy the adult Hawksbill sea turtle flew home to the Virgin Islands to be released back to the ocean in the Virgin Islands  after nearly one year of rehab.at The Turtle Hospital. American Airlines airline flight for Sandy, Turtle Hospital Director Richie Moretti, and Administrator Ryan Butts to St. Croix. This is the farthest destination that The Turtle Hospital has ever traveled to release a sea turtle.

Thanks also are in order to USFW biologist Claudia Lombard who organized the release in St. Croix, USDA wildlife services biologist Toby Hairston, and St. Croix Educational Complex student Mohammed Misbeh and Dan Raymond who also assisted in the release.
