The Obama administration, and Interior Secretary Ken Salazar refused to change a Bush administration rule to protect the polar bears habitat or the bears’s survival. It seems that the issue is how to protect polar bear habitat.
Environmentalists want restrictions on emissions for development of the North shore and other areas where polar bears live.
Obama and Salazar have declared that development cannot be stopped in an area by conservationists using the issue of CO2 emissions or the perils of the bear to stop developmen
The beloved polar bear, the symbol of all things good about the Artic, continues to decline. Scientists say while the bear population has more than doubled since the 1960s, as many as 15,000 could be lost in the coming decades because of the loss of Arctic sea ice, a key element of its habitat.
So full protection seems to have eluded the bears
The Obama administration, and Interior Secretary Ken Salazarhave said their must be other ways to protect the polar bear.
What do you think about the Obama administration’s decision?
